Life is not linear—and neither is healing. Our journeys often take us down a winding path that sometimes causes us to go through difficult experiences where we end up losing ourselves. Whether it’s because you’ve invested yourself in a relationship, career, or dream that didn’t work out as you’d hoped and planned for, it does not mean you have ultimately failed. Instead, you can use the experience to grow from and ultimately find solace in the story. However, as you’re navigating out of the darkness and back into the light, certain steps can be taken to expedite your evolution. Take a peek at some of our tips!

  1. Astrology

    • Our natal charts provide the blueprint of what makes each of us special and unique. By utilizing this ancient wisdom, we can not only learn more about ourselves but other people, too. If we consult what the stars are saying, we often can learn a lot about our soul’s progression and why things happened the way that they did. Astrology also gives us the ability to peer into where the stars are headed in the days, months, and years to come, so we have a snapshot of where we’ll be headed, too.

  2. Tarot

    • The art of Tarot can be used in different ways—as a psychological reflection or as a mystical divinatory tool. Depending on your individual experience with the medium, it can be helpful to pick up a deck of your own to pull from when you’re confused about a situation. However, because our own emotional desires can make it hard to do a Tarot reading for ourselves in an entirely objective way, it is often more accurate and helpful to consult with a professional like the ones we have at KEEN who can provide a loving eye and genuine insight about the questions burning inside of your heart.

  3. Meditation & Journaling

    • Self-awareness is extremely important as we are recovering from any intense experience. By finding our center through meditation, we can open up our senses to our subconscious minds and process the many different messages that are coming through. By journaling, we also have a written record of our journey, which can be helpful to reflect upon down the line. Incorporating gratitude into your journal can also help you to appreciate where you are in your journey.

  4. Mindfulness

    • Mindfulness is a technique that helps someone learn to be present in the moment and pause. During this time, they can notice their own thoughts and feelings and choose a response that is not based on their present emotions. Utilize many different techniques dependent on what you’re going through ranging from body scanning, mindful reading, or mindful listening.

  5. Follow Your Passions

    • Enjoying yourself is a crucial aspect of life. When one is feeling down, it is important to focus on pursuing healthy hobbies and recreation that will allow you to express yourself authentically. The chemicals released into your brain while you are having fun will alleviate your mood and help you to feel brighter.

  6. Exercise

    • During any transition, it is crucial to build healthy habits and behaviors that support one’s body as well as mind. Physical fitness and activity allow you to feel present in your body—as well as release chemicals that help you to feel better about yourself. Staying active, choosing more nutritious foods, and drinking more water will do wonders for you that aren’t just skin deep!

  7. Therapy

    • Sometimes when we’re processing trauma, grief, or intense experiences, it is wise to consult with a professional therapist, psychologist, or life coach who will provide a soundboard to what you are going through. Not only have they been professionally trained and licensed to practice their craft, but they may also be able to provide cognitive tools to help your transition go more smoothly.

  8. Travel

    • Changing up one’s environment and scenery can do wonders when you’re feeling stuck! Whether you’re returning to a favorite destination or exploring new ones, travel opens up your mind and soul. The new experiences will provide distance and perspective on what you’ve been going through.

  9. Reconnect With Your Past

    • Reflection is one of the most important tools we have to assess where we’ve been before we’re ready to decide where we want to go next. Reaching out to old friends, family members, or people from your past can help you to clear your head from the fog that obscures your present.

  10. Vision Board Your Future

    • As you’re standing before this brand new beginning, you have an opportunity to brainstorm what you’d like to feel, see, achieve, and experience. Creating an actual vision board or detailed list will be helpful as you’re mapping out your strategy to recreate yourself. However, don’t just focus on your hopes and dreams. It’s just as important to genuinely lay out a plan to make it all happen—even if it’s just slowly and steadily as you’re marching on. The sky's the limit. You have the power to write a new journey. You just have to decide to turn the page.
