A new year rises before us like the Sun’s explosion of fire over the horizon after a very long night. The last few years have not been easy on anyone, no matter where you live on Earth. Every person’s life has shifted in a slightly new direction due to the unprecedented times we now stand within. In some ways, we are still emerging from the rubble of an era that has come to an end as we learn to tread forward in this newfound world. In some ways, 2022 will bring us the feeling of stepping foot for the first time on a distant shore, one where a whole new land of possibility exists untouched and untamed. Whatever shattered and left you in recent years did not do so to damage your wings, but instead, to give you flight and to encourage you to explore what else life has to offer you. 2022 will in many ways be a better year than recent ones. But each journey we embark upon will always have its own unique set of dark clouds and thorns that loom before us. It is in the knowledge of when to expect them that prepares us for the storm.
Before I dive into the astrological weather for the year, though, I want to take a moment to thank you for reading my work and supporting me. Every month, I spend hundreds of hours creating astrology content and releasing it online. The following article will forecast the key themes we will collectively experience. If you would like to instead skip to your zodiac sign’s general overview, feel free to do so.
NOSTALGIA & THE RETURN OF THE PAST
Every two years, we have one that has more retrogrades than the one prior. This is because Venus and Mars do not retrograde every single year. Any year with both of these planets asleep for a period in time has a greater focus on nostalgia and sees more people and projects from the past come back into our lives—for closure or to reunite and begin again. Both planets also hold important ties to our love lives and relationships, showing that during Venus Retrograde (December 19, 2021 – January 29, 2022) we may cross paths with twin flames, exes, or people we deeply cared for or shared a special intimacy; during Mars Retrograde (October 30, 2022 – January 12, 2023), we may stumble upon people we had a more passionate or sexual connection with, or else enemies or competitors who are karmic in nature. Retrogrades give you an opportunity to learn the lesson you need from the relationship or find the closure to move on: so that you are no longer carrying that baggage. However, for the rare few people that have used their time apart to grow and evolve, they are given an opportunity to rekindle their rapport with a fresh burst of energy and perspective. ENTER A MASTER MANIFESTATION PORTAL
Prepare to enter a very special and unique period, one where you can seize the day to create the life you want more easily—free of roadblocks and cosmic dust. All planets in our solar system will be direct, or “awake,” once Mercury leaves retrograde on February 3, 2022 at 8:13 PM (Pacific). The next planet to retrograde will be Pluto on April 29, 2022 at 11:38 AM (Pacific). With all major planets awakened during this time, we will step into a vortex with a surge of momentum to move rapidly toward our goals and improve our lives in every way. While we will still have to deal with some post-shadow and pre-shadow planetary energy in the weeks of this period, it is of utmost importance to sign contracts, launch businesses, begin official relationships, and make important decisions that you want to last forever during this period. This is nearly 86 days (almost 3 months) of pure, untapped energy to hustle and focus. Make it count.
MISCOMMUNICATION AROUND IDEAS & EXECUTION
In 2022, Mercury—the planet of communication and the mind—will retrograde four times. The dates are:
January 14, 2022 – February 3, 2022. It starts in Air sign, Aquarius, and ends in Earth-sign, Capricorn.
May 10, 2022 – June 2, 2022. It starts in Air sign, Gemini, and ends in Earth-sign, Taurus.
September 9, 2022 – October 2, 2022. It starts in Air-sign Libra, and ends in Earth-sign, Virgo.
December 29, 2022 – January 18, 2023. It occurs entirely within Earth-sign, Capricorn.
When Mercury retrogrades in Air signs, we find confusion around ideas, plans, and communication much more intensely. However, with him also gliding backward into Earth signs, I believe this means we will find confusion around how our ideas are not manifesting the results (or money, success, or productivity) that we thought they would. Plan ahead accordingly and do not launch endeavors or sign contracts then if you can wait. When Mercury retrogrades in Air signs, we become flustered around our points of view. However, when Mercury moonwalks in Earth signs, we become extremely stubborn about our points of view. The key to navigating all of this is to think outside of the box and consider other people’s ideas and models for manifesting change. You’ll be happier if you do. LET YOUR HEART & SPIRIT GUIDE YOU
Jupiter—the planet of miracles, expansion, and luck—will spend a great deal of time in watery Pisces throughout 2022. This bodes extremely well for lifting humanity’s mood and spirits. Life will feel more harmonious and happy during this time. In fact, Jupiter briefly visited the reefs of Pisces from May 13, 2021 until July 28, 2021—so look back to how your life “felt” then, and in 2022, you’ll get a second and third act of that energy. Jupiter is one of the traditional rulers of Pisces, meaning that he will bring some of his greatest blessings to our lives during this time. In general, the themes of art, spirituality, romance, and magic will infuse our lives. Soulmate connections will walk by our paths, changing us forever. We can enjoy a period of genuine spiritual and physical prosperity.
We will also see a great renaissance of art and spirituality when Jupiter and Neptune unite in a conjunction in the Spring. Prepare for a whole surge of interest in wellness products, uplifting the human collective, healers, and mystics. We will also see a whole revolution of entertainment, film, music, and art that is ushered forth. If you are an artist, you will enjoy 2022 tremendously, as you could very well channel the Muse. Psychic abilities will be enhanced, as well as “out of body” experiences. There will be a greater interest in tantra, mental health, and recreational drug use—especially within celebrities and the media. Jupiter remains in Pisces from December 28, 2021 to May 10, 2022 and one final time from October 28, 2022 until December 20, 2022—not to return for 12 years. In 2022, February, March, April, and May will be especially blessed by this expansive and buoyant energy. One last thing to note: when Jupiter is in Pisces, we will see more souls “moving on” because they are ready, as well as more art and media around nautical themes. We will also see more frequency of floods, storms, and especially hurricanes.
TAKE ACTION & FOLLOW YOUR PASSION
In the summer of 2022, Jupiter will become ignited within the zodiac sign of Aries! During this time, there will be a major call to adventure within each of our lives. We will collectively feel our energy, charisma, and confidence become a major focus for us on an independent level. People will find they attract their luck by taking calculated risks, chasing their passions, and exploring their own personal identities. Leadership will be especially enhanced for people who have natural abilities for it—and we will see several new leaders emerge, setting the tone for the coming 12 years. A few pioneers within each industry, within entertainment, and within business will captivate the world and ultimately stand as royalty before all. These people will have a fiery temperament to them and enchant others through their bold actions, as well as their words. When it comes to global affairs, there will be a surge around Aries-ruled industries and projects—“being the first to market,” “being the one breaking ground,” and beyond. The following industries will see a boom: sports, gambling, theme parks, military and weapons, metal, cars, facial beauty products and reconstruction, meat, and anything entrepreneurial or thrill seeking. Self-help and wellness companies that focus on “being a leader” and “stepping into your power” will also do well.
Jupiter will be in Aries from May 10, 2022 until October 28, 2022. One thing to note, though, is that during Jupiter’s journey through Aries, particularly until July 28, 2022, there will likely be increased wildfires, heat waves, explosions, and perhaps even acts of violence. Passions—for better or worse—will be heated to the limits. This energy will be prominent in 2023, too.
KARMIC SITUATIONS AROUND MONEY & SEX
In 2022, the nodes—representing collective destiny and fate—will be moving through the Taurus-Scorpio axis. This means that we will see global economic, financial, and real estate industries go through some very intense changes. On one hand, those set up to win big will do so immensely, whereas others who are not so prepared could find that they are leaning even more on loans, banks, and governments for support. This will be an extremely intense energy that we are navigating through 2022 and 2023. The eclipses in the first half of the year should bring more prosperity and happiness—particularly near the Solar Eclipse in Taurus on April 30, 2022 and the Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio on May 15, 2022. These lunations are aligned especially well in the cosmos and feature Venus and Jupiter prominently—bringing opportunities for overwhelming financial or real estate fortune. The stock market should improve. However, the eclipses toward the end of the year are in a sharp clash with the other planets, bringing tension, friction, and resistance to change. Expect the markets to shake near this time, and I even expect many banks and governments will be dealing with debts owed and the need for bailing out. It appears debt ceilings are being hit and soon—and there could be radical and potential destructive results if an appropriate negotiation isn’t met on both ends. Beware October and November. The Solar Eclipse in Scorpio on October 25, 2022 is difficult, but the Lunar Eclipse in Taurus on November 8, 2022 is even worse. Prepare. What this is doing on a collective level is to address imbalances and shifts in power around global economics, but also on a more personal level: how we each spend, save, and invest our resources.
One last thing to note about these eclipses—particularly the Scorpio ones—is that there will be a surge of focus around topics of sexuality, intimacy, and “bringing down the enemy.” Past scandals will emerge and sexual abuse and fetishes will fascinate—and terrify—the public. This is not to ultimately traumatize the world, but to bring attention to the darker sides of humanity so we can better stand within the light.
RESTRUCTURING “THE SYSTEM” OF CIVILIZATION
Mighty Saturn—the planet of karma and life lessons—will continue his trek through Aquarius until March 2023. The themes that began to solidify within society last year—particularly in regards to technological and space exploration, the further strength of astrology in pop culture, and a major push for equal rights—will continue. However, expect some sharper restrictions on travel and daily life from governments, who are doing their best to monitor and limit freedom in an effort to establish a heavy hand in the times to come. Mysterious Pluto continues his dance through Capricorn, too, where he has been since 2008. Here he has given our governments greater power to dominate, but he is also shattering and burning down the corruption that is not meant to be here. People will begin to push for more visibility with political and global affairs to fight back against the systems that seek to oppress and only control unnecessarily. The awakening of the people—triggered by the Great Conjunction of Saturn and Jupiter on December 21, 2020—has set the stage for the next two hundred years.
A WAR OF IDEAS
The final thing to draw attention to in 2022 is Mars Retrograde, which is when our red planet of passion, sex, drive, and energy, becomes weakened in the sky. He will be orbiting within the halls of Gemini starting August 20, 2022, but will start to “slow down” as early as September 3, 2022. From this period onward until we get to October 30, 2022, we will start to feel more fired up around our ideas, how we communicate, and in regards to getting what we think we want. Yet, we will start to see opposition to those opinions standing before us like an angry, untamed bull. The official Mars Retrograde period takes place from October 30, 2022 until January 12, 2023. During this time, we will learn karmic lessons about how we stand up for what we think and believe in, as well as when it is best to back down. Those who are impulsive and disrespectful will be able to make a lot of noise—but the collective will end up tearing them down. It is best to think deeply about everything you wish to say, post, or broadcast, because we may find that we end up in a war of ideas that ultimately wastes time, resources, and energy. Use this period to reflect on your most important messages and how you can build bridges rather than burning them.
HOPE LIVES WITHIN YOU—AND CAN NEVER BE EXTINGUISHED
While I know many of 2022’s predictions may at first make one apprehensive, it is always wise to remember that life never gives us something that we cannot handle. By the very nature of life, we are built to evolve, grow, and survive. The light that lives in the very center of your heart cannot ever be extinguished. Instead, in times like this, it will just grow brighter—so brilliantly, like your heart is a beacon, or like your soul is being set on fire. 2022 will be a good year. It will be an interesting one. I believe in you, always. And if you ever need a light to inspire you and hold onto: look up. The stars always shine brighter after stormy skies.
